ABOUT ANDRE

MEDITATION TEACHER

Already challenged by the relentless pressures of corporate life, losing his father compounded agony on top of frustration. This created sleepless nights and an all-round knowing that if his fast-paced lifestyle wasn't addressed, illness would surely follow.
After hearing about the benefits of Transcendental Meditation (TM), he decided to learn the technique and was blown away by the changes, some of which literally happened overnight. Andre was amazed by his reduced anxiety and his increased resilience to everyday challenges. More at peace with himself than ever before, he immersed himself further into the Vedic tradition.
10 years on, Andre has become an independent Teacher of Transcendental and Vedic Meditation after a highly successful period teaching with the Meditation Trust. He currently works in London (and Bristol) and throughout Europe and is looking forward to venturing into Asia in 2018/2019.

VEDIC MEDITATION

Vedic Meditation, like Transcendental Meditation, comes from the Vedic tradition which originated in India well over 5,000 years ago.
Philosophy, the sciences, Ayurveda, yoga, the arts and the connection to and expression of the spiritual all flourished in the Vedic tradition.
Vedic Meditation was and continues to this day to be a technique
designed for the “householder”, a term used for people like you and
me who live and work regular lives as opposed to the lifestyle often
associated with that of a “recluse” or monk.
Vedic Meditation is practised and enjoyed by people from all over the
world and supports all beliefs.
It is simple, easy and effortless to learn and naturally settles the
mind to a deep level of rest.  If practised regularly (20 minutes twice
a day), it has been known to reduce blood pressure and anxiety levels,
as well as to alleviate a whole host of other stress-related illnesses.
Following an introductory talk, Vedic Meditation is traditionally taught in 4 sessions over 4 consecutive days, each lasting approximately 1½ - 2 hours in length.

I am too busy to meditate?

All the more reason to learn, meditation provides a deep level of rest that some scientists believe is twice as deep as any kind of sleep.  

Meditation is for Hippies?

Since teaching, I have taught many meditators some of whom have been company directors.  After learning, they claim to feel stronger more connected, energised and focused than ever before.  They love it, so will you.

 

My head is full of thoughts, I can’t meditate?

Whilst some meditations attempt to clear the mind.  That would go against the whole effortless nature of Vedic Meditation.  Thoughts are good, there is no such thing as too many. For more information come to an intro talk or contact me personally.today.    

 

What are the differences of Vedic and Transcendental Meditations and Mindfulness?

Firstly all of the above come from great traditions and should be respected as such as they offer wonderful qualities in their own right.  A key difference is that Vedic Meditation (and Transcendental Meditation) is effortless in technique when done correctly.  Whereas Mindfulness requires effort in the form of attention awareness to achieve best results.

 

I can’t cross my legs for very long?

In order to reap the benefits of this mediation you need to be as comfortable as possible.  So sitting in chairs is not only completely fine but the suggested.

 

How much time do I need to meditate to make the most of this practise?

Just 20 minutes twice a day is the recommended time.

 

When will I start seeing benefits?

Some will notice subtle differences straight away others the changes maybe more or less obvious.  But providing you are learnt correctly you will be benefiting.

 

Can anyone learn?

People of all backgrounds and disabilities have learnt to meditate.

 

But what about people with Religious or Spiritual Backgrounds?

Many that already meditate have reaped benefits as it has given them a closer connection to their own beliefs.

 

Do I need to stop drinking or eating meat to benefit?

No, be as you are.

 

Vedic Meditation sounds alot like Transcendental Meditation are you connected to the Maharishi Foundation?

Whilst I was an independant teacher of Transcendental Meditation with the Meditation Trust I am not and never have been connected to the Maharishi Foundation.  Though wish them the best in all that they do as they have some wonderful teachers on board.
